Director: Damien Chazelle
I usually don’t watch over-hyped movies. They always left me disappointed. That’s why it takes me so long to watch La La Land. Though I have watched their famous dance scene and a small glimpse of the last scene many times previously. My brother used to describe it as a fantastic movie. The Oscars 2024 was also a reason I’d decided to finally watch the movie where Ryan Gosling performed ‘I am Just Ken” from “Barbie” and Emma Stone won the best actress Oscar for “Poor Things”. I wish I didn’t watch the movie and my expectations were happily in the place of expectations. I mean It’s lovely to watch but not the perfect one I was hoping for.
Two struggling creative souls following their passion meet each other in Los Angeles, fall in love, and fall for destiny.
Mia Dolan, a girl from Nevada trying to be an actor in Los Angeles. Sebastian, an aspiring jazz pianist struggling to keep his passion alive. They both crave for their dream life and this is the thing that draws them together and also the reason behind the opposition.
I am not gonna take much time for this review but I would like to mention a few things and I will be honest.
La La Land is kind of an eye treat for It’s cinematography. There are many dance scenes, which I really liked. It’s a musical, but not in a Broadway-style. The story of La La Land is pretty much inspiring and leaves a message for us: if you want to achieve something, you must be willing to let go of something.”
Emma as Mia was incredible, and Ryan as Sebastian was good too. They were perfect for the roles and their chemistry was so good in La La Land. Overall, it’s a lovely, nostalgic movie to watch.
